This Privacy Policy describes how the Expense Tracker app collects, uses, stores, and protects personal data when you use the app.

The app collects and stores the following information locally on your device:

• Budget data, including month, allocated amount, and entries.
• Expense entries, including category, amount, type (spent or added), date, and optional notes.
• Category names and preferences.
• Backup and restore data if you export or import JSON files.

2. How We Use Your Information

All data is used exclusively to support app functionality:

• Creating and managing monthly budgets.
• Recording expenses and income entries.
• Displaying budget summaries and remaining balances.
• Backing up and restoring your stored data.

3. Data Storage

The app stores information locally on your device using secure local storage mechanisms. We do not transmit your personal budget or category data to any external servers by default.

4. Third-Party Services

The app may use the following third-party libraries for app functionality:

• @react-native-async-storage/async-storage for local data storage.
• @react-native-community/datetimepicker for date selection.
• expo-file-system, expo-document-picker, and expo-sharing for backup and restore support.

These libraries are used only to provide features within the app and do not change the fact that your budget and expense data remain under your control.

5. Backup and Restore

Backup and restore features allow you to export and import your budgets and categories as JSON files. When you use these features, the data is written to a file on your device or imported from a file you select.

You are responsible for maintaining the privacy of backup files you save or share. The app is not responsible for any data exposure that occurs outside the app when you move or share backup files.

6. Security

The app does not currently require or collect login credentials, email addresses, or other personally identifiable information. We recommend that you keep your device secure and use built-in device protections.

While we take care to use secure storage APIs, no method of storage is completely secure. You agree that use of the app is at your own risk.

7. Children's Privacy

The app is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us, and we will take steps to remove it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this document.

Continued use of the app after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
